Abteilungsbeschreibung / Description of UZH unit

The Swiss Job Market Monitor (SJMM) collects a unique, representative database of job advertise-ments that can be compared across time since 1950. The database opens up a broad spectrum of in-novative research opportunities. Our previous research is related to the change in qualification de-mands, the importance of qualification demands for mobility processes, companies’ job posting prac-tices and automated text analyses. Other promising research questions arise from the areas of chang-ing tasks within occupations, organisations’ self-representations or searching for personnel on social media. The SJMM is part of the University of Zurich’s Institute of Sociology and is under the direction of Prof. Dr. Marlis Buchmann and Prof. Dr. Katja Rost.
